Aberdeen have played at Pittodrie since the club was formed in 1903, and for most of that time they have done it in red. At TOFFS we recreate retro Aberdeen shirts from the 1960s and 1970s, when the Dons began collecting the trophies that made them a force in Scottish football. Our classic Aberdeen kits are handcrafted in the UK from 100% cotton, with no modern sponsor or manufacturer logos.

From black and gold to red

The modern club was formed in April 1903 by the merger of three city sides: Aberdeen, Victoria United and Orion. For their first decades the Dons wore black and gold stripes. In March 1939 the club switched to red, reflecting the colours of the City of Aberdeen’s arms, and red has been the home colour ever since. Our Aberdeen 1965 Retro Football Shirt comes from the years before the first great cup runs.

Hampden days

In 1970 Aberdeen beat Celtic 3–1 in the Scottish Cup Final, with Derek McKay scoring twice. Our Aberdeen 1970 Scottish Cup Final Retro Football Shirt marks that afternoon. Six years later, under Ally MacLeod, the Dons lifted the League Cup, celebrated in our Aberdeen 1976 Scottish League Cup Final Retro Football Shirt.

Gothenburg, 1983

Alex Ferguson took charge in 1978, and on 11 May 1983 his side beat Real Madrid 2–1 after extra time to win the European Cup Winners’ Cup. They added the European Super Cup against Hamburg that December. The Aberdeen Number 83 Retro Hoodie is a nod to that year.
