From St Mark’s to the Cup

The club began in 1880 as St Mark’s (West Gorton), became Ardwick in 1887 and Manchester City in 1894. Ten years later City won the FA Cup, with Billy Meredith scoring the only goal against Bolton. Mercer and Allison

Under Joe Mercer and Malcolm Allison, City won the league in 1968 and the FA Cup a year later, beating Leicester City 1–0 at Wembley.
