England’s white shirts and navy shorts have been worn since the very first international. Our retro England shirts recreate classic England kits from the 1930s to the 1966 World Cup, with simple collars and no modern sponsor or manufacturer logos. Each is handcrafted in the UK from 100% cotton.

Where international football began

England played Scotland in the first official international in 1872, a goalless draw at Hamilton Crescent in Partick. White has been the home colour ever since. Our England 1938 Retro Football Shirt and England 1930-50s Retro Football Shirt recall the years before and after the war.

Wembley, 1966

England won the World Cup at Wembley in 1966, beating West Germany 4–2 after extra time. Bobby Moore lifted the trophy, and England wore red that afternoon. Why did England wear red in the 1966 World Cup final?+

England and West Germany both usually played in white, so England changed to red for the final at Wembley.

When did England play their first international?+

England played Scotland in 1872 at Hamilton Crescent in Partick. It was the first official international and finished 0–0.
