Before the famous all-white kit, Leeds United wore blue and gold. Our retro Leeds United shirts recreate classic Leeds United kits from the 1950s, the era of John Charles at Elland Road. Each is handcrafted in the UK from 100% cotton, with no modern sponsor or manufacturer logos.

A new club in 1919

Leeds United were formed in 1919, after the Football League disbanded Leeds City. Over the following decades the club tried several designs, including blue and white stripes, blue and gold halves, and royal blue with gold collars. The old nickname, the Peacocks, came from the Old Peacock Ground, as Elland Road was first known.

The John Charles years

Welsh forward John Charles was the star of the 1950s side and inspired Leeds to promotion in 1955–56. Our Leeds United 1950s John Charles Retro Football Shirt, the Leeds United 1956-1957 Retro Football Shirt and the Leeds United 1956-61 Retro Football Shirt all come from those blue and gold years.

Revie’s Whites

In 1961–62 manager Don Revie changed the kit to all white, in the style of Real Madrid. His side went on to win the league in 1968–69 and the FA Cup in 1972.
