Green and white hoops are among the most famous colours in world football. At TOFFS we recreate retro Celtic shirts from every era of the club’s history, from the very first white shirt of 1888 to the summer night in Lisbon in 1967. Our classic Celtic kits are handcrafted in the UK from 100% cotton, with no modern sponsor or manufacturer logos.

White shirts, stripes and hoops

Celtic were founded on 6 November 1887 by Brother Walfrid, and played their first official match on 28 May 1888, beating Rangers 5–2. That first kit was a white shirt with a green collar, recreated in our Celtic 1888 Retro Football Shirt. In 1889 the club switched to green and white vertical stripes, the look of our Celtic 1890s Retro Football Shirt. The hoops arrived on 15 August 1903, against Partick Thistle, and have been worn ever since.

The Lisbon Lions

Jock Stein became manager in 1965, and on 25 May 1967 his side beat Inter Milan 2–1 in Lisbon to become the first British team to win the European Cup. Every player in that squad was born within 30 miles of Glasgow, and they became known as the Lisbon Lions. When did Celtic first wear hoops?+

Celtic first wore green and white hoops on 15 August 1903, against Partick Thistle. Before that they wore white shirts and then vertical stripes.

Who were the Lisbon Lions?+

The Celtic team that beat Inter Milan 2–1 in Lisbon on 25 May 1967 to become the first British winners of the European Cup. All of the squad were born within 30 miles of Glasgow.

Unpersonalised shirts can be returned within 14 days. Personalised shirts are made to order, so they can’t be returned unless faulty.
