Grey is a rare colour in football, and that makes Alessandria’s shirt stand out. Our retro Alessandria shirts recreate one of the most unusual classic Alessandria kits in Italian football. Each is handcrafted in the UK from 100% cotton.

The Greys of Piedmont

The club was founded in Alessandria, Piedmont, on 18 February 1912. That same year, businessman Giovanni Maino gave the team eleven grey shirts, inspired by his cycling team. The colour stuck, and the club has been known as I Grigi, the Greys, ever since. Our Alessandria 1920s Retro Football Shirt recreates that early style, with no modern sponsor or manufacturer logos.

Top-flight years

Alessandria played in the very first Serie A season in 1929–30, finishing sixth. They reached the Coppa Italia final in 1936, losing to Torino. The club also gave Gianni Rivera his Serie A debut in 1959, before he became a star with Milan and Italy.
