Algeria’s white-and-green shirts carry one of the proudest stories in African football. From the FLN team to independence

Before independence, the FLN team toured the world representing the Algerian cause, playing from 1958 until 1962. The national side played its first official international in January 1963, beating Bulgaria 2–1 in Algiers. Our Algeria 1960s and 1970s Retro Football Shirt takes its look from those early decades.

At their first World Cup in Spain, Algeria stunned West Germany with a 2–1 win, one of the great World Cup upsets. Titles followed later, with the Africa Cup of Nations won at home in 1990 and again in Egypt in 2019.

White and green come from the Algerian flag. The home kit is traditionally white with green trim.

Why are Algeria called the Fennecs?+

The fennec fox is a small desert fox native to the Sahara, and the team takes its nickname from it. They are also known as the Desert Warriors.
