Ayr United have called Somerset Park home since the club was formed in 1910. At TOFFS we recreate retro Ayr United shirts from the 1960s and 1970s, the years when Ally MacLeod made the Honest Men one of Scotland’s liveliest sides. Our classic Ayr United kits are handcrafted in the UK from 100% cotton, with no modern sponsor or manufacturer logos.

Two clubs become one

Ayr United were formed in 1910 by the merger of Ayr FC and Ayr Parkhouse. They are the only Scottish Football League club formed from a merger of two existing league clubs. The nickname, the Honest Men, comes from a line in Robert Burns’s poem “Tam o’ Shanter”. The club started out in red and gold, then adopted black and white in 1914.

The MacLeod years

Ally MacLeod managed Ayr across three spells, starting in 1966, and spent fifteen years in charge in total. His sides won a club-record 214 matches and two league titles, and in 1973 the town voted him its Citizen of the Year.
