Retro Barnsley Shirts

Barnsley’s red shirt has been a fixture at Oakwell for well over a century. Our retro Barnsley shirts bring back classic Barnsley kits in the club’s famous red and white, with no modern sponsor or manufacturer logos. Every one is handcrafted in the UK from 100% cotton.

The club was formed in 1887 as Barnsley St Peter’s by the Reverend Tiverton Preedy, and in 1897 it dropped the St Peter’s to become simply Barnsley. The early sides wore blue. Red shirts first appeared in 1901, and by 1904 the club had settled on the red and white it still wears.

Cup winners in 1912

Barnsley’s greatest day came in 1912, when they beat West Bromwich Albion 1–0 to lift the FA Cup for the first time. Much later, in 1997, the Tykes won promotion to the top flight for the first time and spent the 1997–98 season among England’s elite.
