Navy blue with a white V, known in France as the scapulaire, is Bordeaux’s signature. Our retro Bordeaux shirts recreate classic Bordeaux kits from the 1960s, with no modern sponsor or manufacturer logos. Each is handcrafted in the UK from 100% cotton.

The scapulaire

Nobody is quite sure where the white V came from. Some link it to religion, some to the sea, some to the valley of the Garonne. It may simply have looked good. Either way, it has become the lasting symbol of the club. Our Bordeaux 1960s Retro Football Shirt shows the navy shirt in its classic form.

Champions of France

Bordeaux won their first French title in 1950. The 1980s were the club’s great decade, with titles in 1984, 1985 and 1987, and a League and Cup Double in 1987. Further titles followed in 1999 and 2009.
