No shirt in football carries more magic than Brazil’s yellow and green. Our retro Brazil shirts recreate classic Brazil kits from the white shirts of the 1940s to the World Cup winners of 1958 and 1970. Each is handcrafted in the UK from 100% cotton, with no modern sponsor or manufacturer logos.

From white to yellow

Brazil originally played in white, as our Brazil 1949 Away Retro Football Shirt recalls. After defeat at the Maracanã in 1950, a newspaper competition was held to find a new design. The winning yellow shirt with green trim, drawn by a 19-year-old Aldyr Garcia Schlee, was first worn in 1954.

World champions

Brazil won their first World Cup in Sweden in 1958, wearing blue in the final because the hosts also played in yellow. They retained the trophy in Chile four years later. Our Brazil 1958 World Cup Retro Football Shirt celebrates the start of that golden run.

Mexico, 1970

The 1970 side, with Pelé, Jairzinho and Carlos Alberto, won a third World Cup and kept the Jules Rimet Trophy for good. Our Brazil 1970 World Cup Pele 10 Shirt and Brazil 1970 World Cup Carlos Alberto Retro Football Shirt honour that team.

Brazil shirt FAQs

When did Brazil start wearing yellow shirts?+

Brazil played in white until the 1950 World Cup. A newspaper competition then chose Aldyr Garcia Schlee’s yellow shirt with green trim, first worn in 1954.

Why did Brazil wear blue in the 1958 World Cup final?+

Hosts Sweden also played in yellow, so Brazil changed to blue shirts for the final. They won 5–2 to lift their first World Cup.
