Blue has been Carlisle United’s colour since the club took its name in 1904. At TOFFS we recreate retro Carlisle United shirts from the Brunton Park years, including the era of the club’s famous run to the First Division. From Shaddongate to Brunton Park

The club began as Shaddongate United, who wore blue and gold stripes. On 17 May 1904 the members voted to change the name to Carlisle United, and the team switched to blue. White shorts followed in 1907, and in 1909 the club moved to Brunton Park, its home ever since.

Top of the league, 1974

Carlisle reached the First Division for 1974–75 and won their first three matches, including a 1–0 victory over Tottenham, to sit top of the English game. They could not stay there and were relegated at the end of the season, but it remains one of the great stories of the era. Change colours and more
