The Chicago Sting were twice champions of North America and one of the last great clubs of the NASL. Our retro Chicago Sting shirts and classic Chicago Sting kits bring back the black and yellow of a team that played at Soldier Field, Wrigley Field and Comiskey Park.

Named after a film

Commodities broker Lee Stern founded the club in 1974, and the Sting joined the NASL in 1975. The name came from the 1973 film The Sting, which was set in 1930s Chicago. Our Chicago Sting 1970s shirt and the Chicago Sting Away Retro Football Shirt carry the club’s look, with no modern sponsor or manufacturer logos.

Champions in 1981 and 1984

In 1981 the Sting met the New York Cosmos in Soccer Bowl at Toronto’s Exhibition Stadium. The game finished goalless after extra time, and Rudy Glenn scored in the shootout to win it. In 1984, the NASL’s final season, they beat the Toronto Blizzard in the championship series. The club later played indoors until 1988.
