Club Deportivo Guadalajara is one of the most famous names in Mexican football, and its red-and-white stripes are known across the Americas. Our retro Chivas Guadalajara shirts and classic Chivas Guadalajara kits celebrate a club that has fielded only Mexican players for more than eighty years.

Belgian roots

The club was founded on 8 May 1906 as Unión Football Club by Edgar Everaert, a Belgian living in Guadalajara. In 1908 it became Guadalajara Football Club, and its kit was redesigned in the style of Everaert’s favourite team, Club Brugge. Red, white and blue have been the club’s colours ever since.

From Chivas Locas to the Sacred Flock

The Chivas nickname came from a match in 1948, when critics said the team played like “Chivas Locas”, or crazy goats. The name stuck and was worn with pride. After the 1957 championship the side became known as the Rebaño Sagrado, the Sacred Flock, and the great Campeonísimo team became the only one in Mexican history to win four league titles in a row.
