Early years

The Cyprus Football Association joined FIFA in 1948. After independence, the national team played its first official international against Israel in Nicosia in 1960, a 1–1 draw. The first win followed in 1963, 3–1 against Greece.

Nicosia, 1968

In February 1968 Cyprus beat Switzerland 2–1 in a European Championship qualifier in Nicosia, the country’s first competitive win. Our long-sleeved Cyprus 1968 Retro Football Shirt comes from that year.
