A game among friends

The club was founded in 1879 by Albert Jenkins, a railway fitter who gathered some friends together for a match. Red and white have been the dominant colours since 1885, and in 2001 the club moved to red and white hoops for its home shirt.

The Belle Vue years

Belle Vue opened in 1922 and was Doncaster’s home for 84 years, until the move to a new stadium in 2007. In 1946–47 Rovers won the Third Division North with 33 league wins, a record for the most games won in a league season.
