The Edmonton Drillers brought top-flight NASL soccer to Alberta for four seasons. Our retro Edmonton Drillers designs and nods to classic Edmonton Drillers kits recall a club that played in orange, blue and white.

From Oakland to Edmonton

The franchise had been the Hartford and Connecticut Bicentennials and then the Oakland Stompers before moving north in 1979. It was brought to the city by Peter Pocklington, owner of the Edmonton Oilers, and played outdoors at Commonwealth Stadium.

Indoor champions

The Drillers’ finest hour came indoors. In 1981 they won the NASL indoor championship, sweeping Chicago in the final with wins of 9–6 and 5–4. Rising costs caught up with the club, and it folded at the end of the 1982 season.
