Red and white stripes have been the colours of Estudiantes de La Plata since 1906. Our retro Estudiantes shirts are inspired by the classic Estudiantes kits of a club that punched far above its size in South American football. Each shirt is handcrafted in the UK from 100% cotton, with no modern sponsor or manufacturer logos.

Born in La Plata

Estudiantes was founded on 4 August 1905, when a group of players and fans broke away from Gimnasia de La Plata, beginning one of Argentina’s fiercest city rivalries. A year later the club adopted red and white stripes in honour of Alumni, the great Argentine side of the era. The club is known as Los Pincharratas and El León.

The Zubeldía years

Under coach Osvaldo Zubeldía, who took charge in 1965, Estudiantes became the kings of the continent. They won the Copa Libertadores three years running from 1968 to 1970, and lifted the Intercontinental Cup in 1968. A fourth Libertadores followed in 2009. Our Estudiantes Retro Football Shirt keeps the famous stripes simple and bold.
