How Florence turned purple

Fiorentina were founded in Florence in 1926. Club legend says the team’s red-and-white shirts were washed by mistake and came out purple. Whatever the truth, the colour stuck, and the team has been La Viola ever since. Our Fiorentina 1940s Retro Football Shirt and its short sleeve version recall the early years.

Champions and European pioneers

Fiorentina won their first league title in 1955–56. In 1961 they won the Cup Winners’ Cup, the first European trophy for any Italian club. A second league title followed in 1968–69. Our Fiorentina 1960s Retro Football Shirt comes from that decade.
