Genoa are the oldest active football club in Italy, and their red-and-blue halves are a link to the game’s earliest days. Our retro Genoa shirts recreate classic Genoa kits from the club’s championship years, with no modern sponsor or manufacturer logos. Each is handcrafted in the UK from 100% cotton.

An English beginning

The club was founded on 7 September 1893 as Genoa Cricket and Athletic Club, by English expatriates. James Richardson Spensley helped make football the club’s main sport in 1897. Genoa first played in white, then in blue-and-white stripes, before adopting red and navy halves in 1901.

The first champions

Genoa won the first Italian championship in 1898 and went on to win nine titles in all. The 1914–15 season was halted by the First World War, and Genoa were awarded the title in 1919. Our Genoa 1915 Campionato Retro Football Shirt celebrates that title.

Why was Genoa’s 1915 title awarded later?+

The 1914–15 season was halted by the First World War. Genoa were awarded the title in 1919.
