Blue shirts and white shorts have been Gillingham’s look since the 1930s. At TOFFS we recreate retro Gillingham shirts from the Gills’ first championship season through to the Bukta era. New Brompton to Gillingham

The club was formed in 1893 as New Brompton and became Gillingham in 1912, with Priestfield as home throughout. The early teams wore black and white stripes before switching to blue in the 1930s. After finishing bottom in 1938 the club was voted out of the League, returning in 1950 when it expanded to 92 clubs.

Champions, 1964

Under Freddie Cox, Gillingham won the Fourth Division in 1963–64, the first championship in the club’s history. They finished level on points with Carlisle United and took the title on goal average. Our Gillingham 1963-1964 Champions Retro Football Shirt celebrates that side.

Into the 1970s

The club’s early teams wore black and white striped shirts. Gillingham switched to blue in the 1930s, and blue shirts with white shorts have been the look ever since.
