From Sandy Row to Windsor Park

The club was founded in March 1886 in Sandy Row, south Belfast, by workers at the Ulster Spinning Company’s Linfield Mill. Since 1905 home has been Windsor Park, where the first game was played on 29 August that year.

Seven-trophy seasons

Linfield have won more league titles than any other Northern Irish club. Twice they have won seven trophies in a single season: in 1921–22, and again in 1961–62 under manager Isaac McDowell, when the haul included the Irish League, the Irish Cup, the County Antrim Shield, the Gold Cup, the City Cup and the Ulster Cup. In 1966–67 they reached the quarter-finals of the European Cup.
