The all-red kit is one of the most famous sights in world football, and it has been Liverpool’s look for six decades. Our retro Liverpool shirts cover the Shankly years, the European nights of the 1970s and 1980s, and Istanbul in 2005. Every classic Liverpool kit we make is handcrafted in the UK from 100% cotton.

From blue and white to red

Liverpool were founded in 1892 after Everton left Anfield, and at first they wore blue and white. Red shirts arrived in 1896. In the 1964–65 season Bill Shankly went further, adding red shorts and socks for the power of an all-red side. Our Liverpool 1964 Long Sleeve Retro Football Shirt comes from that era.

The sponsor years

In 1979 Liverpool became the first Football League club to carry a sponsor on their shirts. Our Liverpool 1978 Hitachi Home Shirt comes from those years, and the Liverpool 1984 Rome Retro Football Shirt recalls the fourth European Cup. The Liverpool 1986 Home Shirt and the Liverpool FC 1988-89 Candy Home Shirt complete a decade of success.

Istanbul, 2005

Three goals down at half-time against AC Milan, Liverpool fought back to win the Champions League on penalties. Our Liverpool FC 2005 Istanbul Home Shirt celebrates that night. When did Liverpool start playing in all red?+

Bill Shankly introduced red shorts and socks in the 1964–65 season, believing an all-red side would look more powerful.

Did Liverpool always wear red?+

No. The club wore blue and white after its founding in 1892 and switched to red shirts in 1896.

What sizes do the Liverpool shirts come in?+

Adult shirts come in sizes S to 5XL, and we make a kids’ range too. Check the size guide on each shirt for chest measurements.

Unpersonalised shirts can be returned within 14 days. Personalised shirts are made to order, so they can’t be returned unless faulty.
