From Wesleyans to Stags

The club was formed in 1897 as Mansfield Wesleyans and became Mansfield Town in 1910. After the First World War it took over the Field Mill ground, home ever since 1919. Amber and blue have been the club’s colours since 1974.

Giant-killers of 1969

In the fifth round of the 1968–69 FA Cup, Mansfield beat First Division West Ham United 3–0, before narrowly losing to Leicester City in the quarter-finals. Back-to-back success

Mansfield won the Fourth Division in 1974–75, reaching the Second Division for the first time, then beat Wrexham to the Third Division title in 1976–77.
