Les Grenats

FC Metz were founded in 1932. Their maroon shirts, grenat in French, gave the team its nickname, Les Grenats. Our FC Metz 1970s shirt recreates the look of that decade.

A night at the Camp Nou

Metz won their first Coupe de France in 1984, earning a place in the Cup Winners’ Cup. They lost the first leg 4–2 at home to Barcelona. In the return, a hat-trick from Tony Kurbos gave Metz a 4–1 win at the Camp Nou, and they went through 6–5 on aggregate. The club won the Coupe de France again in 1988.

After losing 4–2 at home, Metz won 4–1 at the Camp Nou to go through 6–5 on aggregate in the Cup Winners’ Cup.
