North Shields have twice lifted a national trophy at Wembley, and the first of those days is still talked about on Tyneside. At TOFFS we make retro North Shields shirts that celebrate it, with classic North Shields kits handcrafted in the UK from 100% cotton.

Wembley, 1969

On 12 April 1969 North Shields met Sutton United in the FA Amateur Cup final at Wembley, in front of 47,000 people. The Robins came from behind to win 2–1, with goals from Richie Hall and Brian Joicey. They remain the only Northumberland club, and the last Northern League side, to lift the Amateur Cup at Wembley.

That season manager Frank Brennan’s side also won the league title and the League Cup to complete a treble. Joicey, who scored more than 40 goals in 1968–69, went on to make almost 300 Football League appearances after joining Coventry City.
