Blue has been the colour of Boundary Park since the 1970s. At TOFFS we recreate retro Oldham Athletic shirts from the 1960s to the 1980s, the decades that led up to the club’s greatest era. From Pine Villa to the Latics

The club was founded in 1895 as Pine Villa. When neighbours Oldham County folded in 1899, it took the name Oldham Athletic and moved into Boundary Park. Oldham first wore red-and-white hooped shirts before adopting an all-blue shirt in the mid-1970s, and blue has been the colour ever since. Royle’s Latics

Joe Royle became manager in 1982 and stayed for 12 years. In 1990 Oldham reached the League Cup final, losing 1–0 to Nottingham Forest at Wembley, and the FA Cup semi-finals. A year later they were Second Division champions, back in the top flight for the first time in 68 years, and in 1992 they were founder members of the Premier League. The club adopted an all-blue shirt in the mid-1970s, and blue has been its colour ever since. Earlier Oldham sides wore red-and-white hoops.

Were Oldham Athletic in the Premier League?+

Yes. They won the Second Division in 1990–91 and were founder members of the Premier League in 1992, staying until 1994.
