The road to the 1970s

Poland played their first international in Budapest in December 1921, losing 1–0 to Hungary. Fifty years later came a remarkable decade. Poland won Olympic gold in Munich in 1972, and in October 1973 a 1–1 draw at Wembley knocked England out of the World Cup. Third in the world, twice
