Early years

Portugal played their first international in Madrid in December 1921, losing 3–1 to Spain. The team is known as the Seleção das Quinas, after the shields on the national coat of arms. Our Portugal 1960s Retro Football Shirt captures the classic red look.

Eusébio and 1966

Portugal’s first World Cup, in England in 1966, belonged to Eusébio. He scored nine goals, more than anyone else at the tournament, as Portugal finished third. In the quarter-final at Goodison Park they trailed North Korea 3–0 before winning 5–3, with Eusébio scoring four.
