One club for the town

Rotherham United was formed on 27 May 1925, when Rotherham County and Rotherham Town merged. It had become clear that the town could not support two professional clubs. The new club first played in amber and black, switching to red and white around 1930.

The first League Cup final

In 1961 Rotherham reached the first League Cup final, played over two legs against Aston Villa. The Millers won 2–0 at Millmoor but lost 3–0 at Villa Park. Our Rotherham United 1959-1960 Retro Football Shirt comes from the seasons just before that run.

Millmoor memories

Millmoor was home until 2008, and in 2012 the club moved to the New York Stadium, built on a former foundry site in the town centre.
