Pioneers of the passing game

The club was founded in 1863 and is based in Chatham, Kent. The Engineers were pioneers of the combination game, passing the ball between team-mates at a time when most sides simply dribbled and charged forward. They have worn scarlet and blue hoops since their foundation.

The Cup, 1875

The Engineers played in the first FA Cup Final in 1872, losing 1–0 to Wanderers, and reached the final again in 1874. In 1875 they drew 1–1 with Old Etonians, then won the replay 2–0 to lift the Cup.
