Saint-Étienne’s green shirts are a symbol of French football, and they have a special place in Scotland too. Our retro Saint-Étienne shirts recreate the classic Saint-Étienne kits of the club’s great years, handcrafted in the UK from 100% cotton with no modern sponsor or manufacturer logos.

A shop team in green

The club began in 1919 as a sports club for employees of the Casino grocery chain. It adopted green because it was Casino’s main colour, and became professional as AS Saint-Étienne in 1933. The green shirts give the club its nickname, Les Verts.

Hampden, 1976

Saint-Étienne won ten French league titles between 1957 and 1981. In 1976 they reached the European Cup final at Hampden Park in Glasgow, losing 1–0 to Bayern Munich. Fans still talk of les poteaux carrés, the square posts that denied them. Our St Etienne Short Sleeve Retro Football Shirt and St Etienne Long Sleeve Retro Football Shirt bring back that famous green.
