Long before today’s club, the original Seattle Sounders made the city one of the heartlands of North American soccer. Our retro Seattle Sounders shirts and classic Seattle Sounders kits celebrate the NASL side of 1974 to 1983, which played in green, blue and white.

Memorial Stadium and the Kingdome

The Sounders began at Memorial Stadium, where on 22 June 1974 they drew the first sell-out crowd in NASL history. In 1976 they moved to the Kingdome, playing the New York Cosmos in the first event at the new stadium in front of 58,128 fans.

Two Soccer Bowls

The Sounders reached Soccer Bowl twice, losing to the Cosmos both times: 2–1 in 1977 and again in 1982. Their squads had a strong British flavour, and Roger Davies and Peter Ward were named league MVP in 1980 and 1982. The club folded in September 1983, and the Sounders name was later revived.

Twice. They reached Soccer Bowl in 1977 and 1982, losing to the New York Cosmos on both occasions.
