Southampton’s red and white shirts are known the world over. Our retro Southampton shirts recreate classic Southampton kits from the club’s founding year to the 1970s, handcrafted in the UK from 100% cotton with no modern sponsor or manufacturer logos.

A church team

The club was founded in 1885 as the football team of St Mary’s Church Young Men’s Association, which is where the Saints nickname comes from. Our Southampton 1885 Retro Shirt takes you right back to the beginning. In 1898 the club moved to The Dell, home for 103 years.

Cup finalists and a Spanish connection

Southampton reached the FA Cup Final in 1900 and again in 1902. In 1909 a representative of Athletic Bilbao bought 50 Saints shirts on a trip to England, and red and white stripes were soon worn in Spain too. Our Southampton 1940s-1950s Retro Football Shirt carries the story into the post-war years.

Top flight and a famous Cup win

Southampton won promotion to the First Division for the first time in 1966. Our Southampton 1960s Retro Shirt comes from that decade. In 1976, as a Second Division side, the Saints won the FA Cup with a goal from Bobby Stokes. Explore more in our retro Championship shirts collection, our kids’ range and our casualwear.
