St Johnstone take their name from Perth’s old title of St John’s Toun, and the club has carried it since 1884. At TOFFS we recreate retro St Johnstone shirts from the 1970s, the years after the club’s first adventure in Europe. Muirton Park

After starting out at the Recreation Grounds, St Johnstone moved to Muirton Park in 1924 and stayed until 1989. In 1969 they reached the League Cup Final, losing 1–0 to Celtic. The Saints’ nickname comes from the same St John’s Toun that gave the club its name.

Into Europe

In 1971–72 St Johnstone played in Europe for the first time. They beat Hamburg 4–2 on aggregate and then Vasas, before losing to Željezničar Sarajevo in the third round of the UEFA Cup. Our St Johnstone 1972-1977 Retro Football Shirt comes from the seasons that followed.
