From Heaton Norris to Edgeley Park

The club was formed in 1883 as Heaton Norris Rovers, at a meeting in McLaughlin’s Cafe by pupils from Stockport Sunday School. County have played at Edgeley Park since 1902. Like Luton, they are known as the Hatters, a nod to the town’s former hat-making industry.

Blue, white and white again

Stockport have played in blue and white since 1914, though from the mid-1930s to the mid-1960s the team wore white shirts with black shorts. In the early 1980s they returned to blue and white striped tops with blue shorts.

Champions in 1967

County returned to the Third Division by winning the Fourth Division in 1966–67. Our Stockport County 1966-1967 4th Division Champions shirt marks that title, and the Stockport County 1977 Bukta Retro Football Shirt comes from a decade later. Neither carries modern sponsor or manufacturer logos.
