Red and white stripes have been Sunderland’s colours since 1887, worn through six league titles and two FA Cup wins. Our retro Sunderland shirts recall the great Roker Park sides before the Second World War. A teachers’ team

James Allen, a teacher in the town, founded the club in 1879 as Sunderland & District Teachers AFC. It soon opened to other players and became Sunderland AFC. The team first wore navy, moved to red and white in 1884, and took the field in stripes for the first time in 1887.

Roker Park’s golden years

In 1913 Sunderland won the league and reached the FA Cup Final, a season recalled by our Sunderland 1913 FA Cup Final Retro Football Shirt. The club’s sixth title came in 1936. A year later Sunderland beat Preston North End 3–1 to win the FA Cup for the first time. That season is remembered in the Sunderland 1937 FA Cup Final Retro Football Shirt and the Sunderland 1937 Season Retro Football Shirt.
