Wales played their first international in Glasgow in March 1876, losing 4–0 to Scotland. That makes them the third-oldest national team in football. Sweden 1958

Wales reached the quarter-finals of the 1958 World Cup, still their best finish. Without the injured John Charles, they lost 1–0 to Brazil, and the goal came from a 17-year-old Pelé. In 2016 Wales reached the semi-finals of the European Championship.
