A golden era

The club was founded in 1930 and joined the League of Ireland the same year. Waterford won the FAI Cup in 1936–37, but their greatest days came between 1965–66 and 1972–73, when they won six league titles in eight seasons. A second FAI Cup followed in 1979–80.

What’s in a name

In May 1982 the club changed its name to Waterford United, and it kept that name until reverting to Waterford FC ahead of the 2017 season. Since the 1993–94 season the club has played at the Regional Sports Centre, having moved from Kilcohan Park.
