The Racecourse

Wrexham were formed on 4 October 1864 at the Turf Tavern. Their home, the Racecourse Ground, is the world’s oldest international stadium that still hosts international matches. In 1939–40 the team appeared in their now-familiar red and white for the first time.

The late 1960s

Our Wrexham 1967-1970 Retro Football Shirt comes from the end of the 1960s, with no modern sponsor or manufacturer logos. For younger fans there is the Wrexham 1967-70 Kids Retro Football Shirt.

European nights and cup upsets

In the 1975–76 European Cup Winners’ Cup, Wrexham knocked out Stal Rzeszów and reached the quarter-finals, losing 2–1 to Anderlecht, the eventual winners. Under Arfon Griffiths they won the Third Division in 1977–78, sealing promotion with a 7–1 win over Rotherham United. In 1992 goals from Mickey Thomas and Steve Watkin knocked Arsenal out of the FA Cup.
