This was Liverpool's first European Cup success against the same German opponents that they had beaten in the 1973 UEFA Cup Final, 3-2 on aggregate. The game also marked the end of Kevin Keegan's career with the Reds, as he left to join Hamburg, but the void was filled by none other than Kenny Dalglish.
