East Germany played international football for less than four decades, but the DDR’s shirts still fascinate collectors. Our retro East Germany shirts recreate classic East Germany kits from the 1970s and 1980s, with no modern sponsor or manufacturer logos. Each is handcrafted in the UK from 100% cotton.

A national team from 1952 to 1990

The German Democratic Republic played its first international against Poland in Warsaw in 1952. Its last came in September 1990, a 2–0 win over Belgium in Brussels, shortly before German reunification. The team won Olympic gold in Montreal in 1976.

Hamburg, 1974

East Germany’s only World Cup was in West Germany in 1974. Drawn against their neighbours, they won 1–0 in Hamburg through Jürgen Sparwasser and topped the group. Our East Germany 1974 World Cup Retro Football Shirt, the away version and the East Germany Croy 1974 World Cup Retro Goalkeeper Shirt all come from that tournament.

For every DDR fan
